Sally, from the movie “Nightmare before Christmas”.
The film follows the misadventure of Jack Skellington, Halloween’s pumpkin king, who has become bored with the same annual routine of frightening people in the ‘real world’.
When Jack accidentally stumbles on Christmastown, all bright colours and warm spirits he gets a new lease on life. He plots to bring Christmas under his control by kidnapping Santa Claus and taking over the role. But Jack soon discovers even the best laid plans of mice and skeleton men can go awry.
Sally is the deuteragonist of Tim Burton’s ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’.
She is a humanoid ragdoll created by Dr. Finkelstein, made of various pieces stitched together and stuffed with leaves. Her hair is bright red and kept at shoulder length.
Extensive pattern pieces had to be constructed to imitate the patchwork effect on her skirt. The print on the bodice was hand painted in order to imitate the look of the original dress. The gloves and stockings were hand painted to create ‘stitches‘.
